Missing teeth can cause other teeth to shift, reduce chewing efficiency, and affect speech as well as appearance. A missing tooth can often be replaced with a dental implant. Implants are highly successful and long lasting. They are often the best option for replacement of a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. Implants may be used in a variety of situations ranging from the need for a single crown to the need to replace an entire arch with prosthetic teeth.
Using the most current methods, we are able to combine our state of the art 3D patient scans with Cerec scanned images to virtually plan your implant and crown before we do any procedure clinically. Using 3D technology, we digitally plan the best possible position for your future crown which aligns within your existing bite. Once the position of the crown is established, we then digitally plan the implant to the exact location and depth which corresponds to the crown. By using this information and performing guided surgery your implant will be placed with unparalleled precision. By using 3D technology, we can ensure a precision fit between your implant and crown while also providing the best possible esthetics and function.
Occasionally teeth have fractures, large fillings, or decay which requires more coverage for strength and longevity. With Cerec technology we have the ability to complete your all porcelain crown in one appointment, eliminating the need for an impression or a temporary. When you leave our office you will have a permanent, bonded crown in place that will closely mimic your natural tooth in shade and appearance. Cerec crowns may also be used to restore a dental implant to natural function.
It is estimated that 50% of the U.S. population avoid dental visits due to anxiety and fear. We strive to make every visit as comfortable as possible for our patients. However, some patients may still benefit from the use of Oral Conscious Sedation. Dr. Brown is licensed by the state of Tennessee to administer oral medication to sedate patients and relieve their fears and concerns. Longer procedures and multiple teeth can be treated with no discomfort or anxiety.
Sedation Dentistry allows the patient to get the care they want and need in a state of complete relaxation. Sedation is ideal for:
3D (CBCT) scans are providing clinicians with unparalleled imaging and diagnostic power in comparison to traditional 2D radiographs. The ability to view any point on the scan from three different perspectives with high clarity allows proper diagnosis and treatment planning for a variety of conditions. This technology, in combination with Cerec scanned images, provides the ability to digitally plan a crown and implant before any clinical work is ever performed on the patient. These scans are confined to an area 8cm x 8cm, and maintain a low radiation dose while still providing powerful imaging. A single scan will be roughly equivalent to the amount of environmental radiation you will receive over the course of 16 days. In comparison to a medical CT scan (105 days) this is an extremely low dose.
We also use 2D digital radiography which offers up to an 80% reduction in radiation exposure compared to film radiographs.
A fixed bridge replaces one or more missing teeth and is not removable. The adjacent teeth are prepared for a crown and a bridge of several teeth connected together are cemented or bonded to place for long lasting esthetics and function. In some cases you may also be able to have your bridge completed in a single visit.
Porcelain veneers are a great solution to many esthetic problems. A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain designed by your dentist and crafted by a ceramist in a dental laboratory. Veneers are appropriate for closing spaces, correcting dark shades, and minor repositioning of crowded teeth.
Everyone can enjoy the benefits of a beautiful, white smile. Soft drinks, wine, coffee, staining foods, and age darken teeth and diminish attractiveness and self esteem. Our office offers both in office power bleaching and convenient home whitening trays. In office bleaching is completed within two hours. Take home whitening trays are a lower cost treatment and may be worn while sleeping or one hour per day for an average of two weeks. Both methods can vastly improve most patients’ smiles quickly.
Composite veneers (bonding) is a less expensive, yet attractive method to restore a smile, often with little or no tooth preparation. Its longevity is less than that of porcelain veneers and on average will need to be replaced about every eight years. Bonding can be used to change the shade of certain teeth, to close gaps, or to cover defects in enamel.
